About Centennial Elementary

Centennial Elementary School is one of 12 elementary schools within the Springfield Public Schools district.

Centennial is the home of the Blue Jays!

Centennial Elementary School is a small school with an enrollment of about 340 students in Springfield School District.  We have 22 teachers and 12 Educational Assistants to support all students' learning needs.  Our PTO is very active and supportive of the goals of the school and success of all students. 


School Hours

Regular School Hours (All K-5 Students)
School begins each day at 8:35 a.m. (doors open at 8 a.m. for breakfast) and dismissal is at 2:50 p.m.

Early Release School Hours (All K-5 Students)
School begins each day at 8:35 a.m. (doors open at 8 a.m. for breakfast) and dismissal is at 12:30 p.m.

Office Hours

  • On school days, the office opens at 8 a.m. and closes at 4 p.m.
  • On days that students are not in school but the staff are present the office is open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • On other days, the office is closed, except by appointment.

Early Pickups:

  • Please try to schedule appointments after school or on early release days if at all possible.
  • If you do need to pick up your student early, leave yourself some buffer time and let us know when you arrive at school. We will call your student to the office. 

Summer Hours:

  • The school office is closed for the summer the Friday after the last day of school in June, and reopens the third week in August.

Normal School Hours:

  • For all grades K-5, school begins each day at 8:35 a.m. and is dismissed at 2:50 p.m.
  • Mornings: Students may arrive as early as 8:00 a.m., and all students will now enter through the kindergarten (north main) door.
    • Students eating breakfast can head to the cafeteria to sit down for breakfast. After 8:30 a.m., the cafeteria will provide a sack breakfast to go. 
    • Students not eating breakfast can head to the gym.
    • The first bell rings at 8:25 a.m., when students will be released to head to their classrooms. 
  • Afternoons: Students are released according to grade level:
    • Kinders through the kinder door.
    • Grades 1, 3 and 5 through the doors at the south side of the building.
    • Grades 2 and 4 through the main doors by the office.

Early Release Hours:

  • For all grades K-5, school begins at 8:35 a.m. and is dismissed at 12:30 p.m. Lunch is served to all students. Buses run regular routes, 2 hrs and 20 mins earlier than usual.
